Problems we investigate

What Is Wrong With Your Central Heating?

From radiator repairs to circulation and control faults, a heating problem does not always mean the boiler needs replacing. The problem may be elsewhere in the system, so we start by finding the cause.

Cold Radiators

One or more radiators stay cold, warm slowly or heat unevenly.

Circulation Problems

Heat is not moving properly around the system or reaching every room.

Pump Faults

The circulation pump is noisy, leaking, sticking or not operating correctly.

Thermostat Problems

The room thermostat, programmer or smart control is not calling for heat.

Zone Valve Faults

Heating zones or the hot-water circuit are not opening and closing correctly.

Pressure Loss

The system repeatedly loses pressure and needs investigation rather than constant topping up.

Noisy Heating

Banging, gurgling, humming or rushing-water noises are coming from the system.

Leaks and Valves

Water is leaking from accessible pipework, radiator valves or heating components.

Clear advice

What Affects the Cost of a Heating Repair?

The cost depends on the cause of the fault, the time needed to diagnose it, access to the system and whether replacement parts are required.

A cold radiator may have a different cause from a whole system that will not circulate. That is why we do not advertise one price for every central-heating fault.

We confirm the applicable attendance or diagnostic charge before booking. Out-of-hours charges may differ from daytime charges. Any additional parts or labour are explained and agreed before the repair continues.

If repairing the existing system is no longer sensible, see how we plan a full central heating installation.

Common questions

Central Heating Repair FAQs

Clear answers about system faults, radiators, controls, appointments and repair costs.

Why are some radiators hot and others cold?

Possible causes include trapped air, incorrect balancing, a sticking valve, circulation problems or contamination within the system. The pattern of affected radiators helps guide the checks.

Can you repair heating controls and thermostats?

We can investigate faults involving suitable heating programmers, room thermostats, smart controls and related wiring or control components. The exact repair depends on the system fitted.

Why does my heating system keep losing pressure?

Repeated pressure loss may be linked to a leak or a fault elsewhere in the sealed system. Constantly topping it up does not identify the cause, so the system should be checked.

Do you repair pumps and zone valves?

Yes, suitable circulation-pump and motorised-zone-valve faults can be investigated. We will confirm what has failed and discuss the repair or replacement required.

Do cold radiators always need power flushing?

No. Cold radiators can have several causes. The system should be assessed before deciding whether balancing, a valve repair, local flushing or more extensive cleaning is appropriate.

Is this the right page if my boiler shows a fault code?

If the fault appears to be inside the boiler, use our Boiler Repairs page or call us. We can help determine the correct type of visit from the information you provide.

How much will the repair cost?

The price depends on the fault, diagnosis time, access and any replacement parts required. We explain the findings and any additional work before proceeding.

Are you available at night or on weekends?

Yes. You can contact us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including nights, weekends and bank holidays, for same-day heating help. We explain the next step and confirm the applicable charge before booking. Out-of-hours charges may differ from daytime charges.

Radiators, circulation and controls

Radiator Valves, Balancing, Pumps and Heating Controls

Describe the pattern of the fault so we can check the relevant components. An inspection establishes the cause before repairs are agreed.

One Radiator Stays Cold

We check valve operation, trapped air and circulation to that radiator. A sticking thermostatic valve or restricted flow can need a different solution from a system-wide fault.

Some Rooms Heat Much Later

Uneven heat can involve system balancing, valve settings or circulation. We assess the flow through the system before recommending adjustments, component repairs or cleaning.

A Valve or Radiator Is Leaking

Show where the water appears and tell us whether system pressure is falling. We inspect the accessible joint, valve or radiator and explain repair or replacement options.

Hot Water Works but Heating Does Not

Thermostats, programmers, motorised valves and pumps can affect the heating circuit. Tell us whether all rooms or only one zone is affected, and send a picture of the controls.

Cold radiators do not automatically require a power flush. We explain the findings and agree the appropriate work and price first.

Heating system cleaning

Powerflushing in Leeds, Bradford and West Yorkshire

Slow or uneven radiators can have several causes. Infiniti Heating & Plumbing assesses the system before recommending powerflushing, a targeted clean, balancing or a component repair.

What Powerflushing Does

A flushing machine circulates water and a suitable cleaning product through the heating system to help remove sludge and debris. The cleaning method is chosen for the system and its condition.

When Cleaning May Help

Contaminated system water, restricted circulation and persistent radiator cold spots can prompt a cleaning assessment. A cold radiator alone does not establish that a powerflush is needed.

What We Check First

We discuss affected rooms, the boiler and radiator history, visible leaks, valves, controls and circulation. Existing faults or deteriorated components may need repair before cleaning is appropriate.

Cleaning and Protection

The agreed work explains the cleaning method, access needed, flushing and refilling, suitable inhibitor protection and checks of heating operation. Ask about an existing magnetic filter and its maintenance.

Request a Powerflushing Quote

Send your postcode, number of radiators, boiler make and model, affected rooms and any known leaks or pressure loss. Photos of the boiler, controls and filter help us plan the assessment.

The quote depends on the system size, condition, access and cleaning required. We agree the scope and price before work. Replacement parts, leak repairs or additional work are separately explained and approved.

Will a powerflush repair a broken pump or valve?

No. Cleaning removes contamination; a failed component requires diagnosis and an agreed repair. We explain which work addresses the fault.

Do I need powerflushing when replacing a boiler?

The existing system must be assessed and the appropriate cleaning method agreed for the installation and manufacturer’s requirements. A powerflush is not automatically the right method for every system.

Can you guarantee a saving on my energy bill?

We do not promise a fixed saving. Results depend on the cause of the problem, system condition and how the heating is used. We explain the expected purpose of cleaning before you commit.

What if some radiators are still cold?

The relevant valves, balancing, circulation and controls need checking. Tell us which rooms are affected and whether hot water works so the correct next step can be assessed.

For more on system cleaning, see Fernox’s powerflushing guidance. For a boiler fault, choose boiler repairs in Leeds or boiler repairs in Bradford.

Heating upgrades

Radiator Replacement, TRVs and Smart Heating Controls

Improve control of your heating or replace a damaged radiator. We assess the existing system, discuss your requirements and agree the equipment and installation price before work.

Radiator Replacement

Tell us which room needs a replacement, the current radiator dimensions and whether it leaks or heats poorly. We discuss suitable sizing, valve connections, pipework changes and access before quoting.

Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Ask about replacing a sticking or leaking TRV, upgrading existing valves or improving room-by-room control. We check valve condition and system suitability, then explain installation and balancing requirements.

Hive and Nest Enquiries

Considering a Hive or Nest thermostat? Send the boiler make and model and photos of the existing thermostat, programmer and receiver. We confirm compatibility and the proposed controls before an installation is agreed.

Thermostat Repairs and Setup

For controls that do not respond, tell us what the display shows and whether heating or hot water still works. We investigate the fault and explain repair, replacement and setup options.

What to Include in Your Enquiry

Send your postcode, the number of radiators or valves, room details and photos of the existing equipment. Mention whether you want a repair, replacement or smart control upgrade. We explain the agreed work, operation of the new controls and any further work required.
