What Should a Boiler Installation Quote Include?

Advice & Guides · Boiler buying advice

A useful boiler installation quote describes the complete job, not just the appliance. Compare the exact boiler, installation work, controls, system cleaning, paperwork and exclusions before comparing the final price.

A low headline price can be difficult to assess if you cannot see what it covers. This checklist helps homeowners in Leeds and West Yorkshire ask the right questions and compare quotations on the same basis.

1. Identify the exact boiler and proposed setup

Ask for the manufacturer, model, boiler type and output. “New combi boiler” is not enough detail to compare two offers. Tell the installer how many bathrooms you have, whether showers run together, and whether you plan an extension. Ask why the proposed appliance suits your household rather than choosing only by brand or the biggest output.

2. Ask what installation work is covered

  • Removal and disposal of the existing boiler.
  • The proposed boiler position and any relocation.
  • Flue arrangement and any additional access work.
  • Alterations to gas, water, heating and condensate pipework.
  • Electrical connections and any work requiring another trade.
  • Protection of the work area, waste removal and making good.

Make sure the quote distinguishes keeping the boiler in the same position from moving it. A replacement in an existing location and an installation across the house are different jobs. Ask whether decoration, plastering, boxing-in or floor repairs are included, excluded or priced separately.

3. Specify controls and system cleaning

Ask which thermostat or programmer is supplied and whether existing controls will remain. If app control matters, check compatibility and any internet requirements. Have the cleaning method written down: a chemical clean and a powerflush are different services. Ask what your system needs and whether a filter, inhibitor and radiator valve changes form part of the quoted work.

Worcester Bosch’s installation guidance identifies controls, cleaning and system changes as important parts of discussing the installation. The appropriate scope should be confirmed for your property.

4. Separate appliance cover from installation support

Record the warranty or guarantee length for the exact model and package. Ask who registers it, what maintenance conditions apply and how to report a problem. Manufacturer cover and the installer’s arrangements for workmanship are separate questions; obtain both in writing. Worcester Bosch requires annual servicing to maintain its guarantee.

5. Agree handover, documents and payment

Ask which commissioning records, instruction manuals and applicable installation notification documents you will receive. Confirm that the controls will be demonstrated. Before booking, establish the payment stages, installation arrangements and how any unforeseen extra work would be agreed. An estimate based on photographs may need a survey before the final scope is confirmed.

A simple way to compare two quotes

Write the two offers side by side under six headings: appliance, installation scope, controls, cleaning, cover and exclusions. If one column is blank, ask the installer to clarify it. This is more useful than assuming the cheapest offer includes every item you need.

Send the right information for your quote

Send your postcode, existing boiler model, photographs of the boiler and visible pipework, bathroom numbers and whether you want to change its position. Photograph the flue only from a safely accessible position. Do not remove the boiler casing.
